Windows 11. The main part of this announcement should be the presentation of a significant change to the UI, codenamed Sun Valley. As we know, a significant part of the UX changes will be carried over to the Windows 10X shell and Windows 10X will not be released. Now, as expected, the information leak about Windows 11 begins.

What’s new in Windows 11:

– Windows 11 will receive a completely new design. Microsoft clearly needs a good reason to reverse its previous claims and still abolish Windows 10 by introducing a new operating system number. And a completely new design is ideal for this. The Redmond giant has long been preparing a redesign for an update codenamed Sun Valley (“Sun Valley”); apparently, under this name there was Windows 11. The Sun Valley project shone on the net for a long time: Microsoft regularly revealed details about the new interface style, insiders shared previously unknown information, and popular designers in their environment drew realistic concepts based on it . in all this data.

– Start and system elements float above the bottom bar. Start is the business card and face of every newer version of Windows. It is not surprising that in Windows 11 the developers are redesigning it once again, but not so much in functional terms as in visual terms: the Start window will float above the bottom bar. It must be recognized that this small change makes the appearance of the system much fresher. Judging by the information from the network, Microsoft is not going to radically change the “insides” of this menu: the innovations will affect only the design of the window itself. The control panel will also be floating, and its layout will be exactly the same as that of “Start”. The Action Center will be combined with the control keys; a similar system has been used in some other operating systems for some time. Almost all mentions of this new menu indicate that it is an island: control keys will be on a separate panel, notifications on another, and certain elements (like a player) on another separate panel. – Right angles will disappear and will be replaced by rounded ones. In fact, insiders and conceptual designers disagree on this point: some are confident that Microsoft will not change its traditions and will maintain the right angle, while others are convinced that in 2021 Microsoft will follow the trend of steaks. The latter fits better with the definition of “completely new Windows”: floating menus are not enough to consider a new design as truly new. The roundings are expected to affect practically the entire system, from context menus and system windows to all application windows. True, the opinions of conceptual designers also differ on this issue: some draw roundings on all possible interface elements, others combine them with right angles. – There will be a translucent background with blur everywhere. There is disagreement on the Internet about the display island style of the windows, the corner design and the levitation effect of the menu, but almost everyone agrees about the transparency of the windows. The vast majority of design leaks and renderings show transparency and blurring in all windows, be it at least in the Start menu or Explorer. In addition, these effects are also present in the compilation of the discontinued Windows 10X operating system, which Microsoft developed in parallel with the Sun Valley project for dual-screen and low-power devices.
