American (English) remake of the French series HPI (2021)
Line of Events
It follows Morgan, a single mother of three, who, thanks to her extraordinary mind, is able to help solve a crime and rearrange evidence in her turn as a cleaner at the police department. Despite his extremely high IQ, excellent memory, and extensive knowledge of mysterious phenomena, Morgan makes a series of basic legal mistakes that no one who has ever watched a law show on TV would know to make. In episode one, for example, he retrieves from the locked safe of the suspected victim’s law firm a document that would never be admissible in court – illegally obtained evidence. Nor could it be used to obtain other evidence—violating the legal “fruit of the poisonous tree” doctrine.

In Episode 2, he has to be reminded to wear gloves before handling evidence at a crime scene, and in Episode 3, he removes all documented evidence from the police station, completely breaking the chain of custody and causing everything he removed. longer to be dealt with in court. I really relate to any show/movie that shows someone with a unique talent hidden behind a persona that just doesn’t fit. A kind of secret superpower.
He plays burnout so well!
The main character has just that. It seems like his life is a bit of a mess, he’s all over the place, but… he’s crazy smart and notices details that other experienced people miss. I was already a fan of Kaitlin so it’s no surprise that I love her here as well.
I appreciate that each episode solves a case
I’m tired of series that last a whole season or more. Tell me a solid story and conclusion in less than an hour! It delivers. Well paced, has some funny lines and is overall enjoyable to watch.
I’m really looking forward to more episodes
I just hope they don’t cancel it after one season like everyone does these days. A solid MC you want to root for.
