This would mark the third attempt at a television series based on the world of Okrutne namjere (1999)
Line of Events
After a hazing incident at their elite university, step-siblings Caroline and Lucien decide to preserve their power and reputation by seducing the daughter of the Vice President of the United States. The direct-to-video sequel Okrutne namjere 2 (2000), starring Amy Adams replacing Sarah Michelle Gellar and Kathryn Merteuil, was originally a scripted television series before being re-edited as a feature film. Gellar would later reprise her role as Kathryn in the 2016 NBC pilot Cruel Intentions (2016), which was not ordered to series.
Next came Okrutne namjere (1999)
Seriously. What are they doing? What were they thinking?
Why would girls think he’s attractive?
The worst part is the guy playing Lucien. He looks like he’s 14 and isn’t sweet or easy going. In the scene where he catches the eye of the VP’s daughter, he looks like a kid trying to be Ferris Bueller.
Or at least do it in a way that didn’t feel forced
There are a few redeeming characters, but not enough to make you want to watch. I miss the days when a movie or show didn’t intentionally try to cover every angle by including every social, demographic, and sexual preference. Maybe they should have visited a few colleges to get some perspective.
