On Thursday 9 November 1961, a man named Brian descended the stairs to a cellar in Liverpool and changed the world forever
In a similar vein to 2023s Priscilla, Midas man does not use the Beatles music as they were unable to obtain the rights but other songs were used which they were able to get the rights for or were already in the public domainThe upcoming Beatles biopic film from Sam Mendes will most likely include Beatles songs however
Really enjoyed this telling of Brian Epstein’s life and his pivotal role in The Beatles becoming hugeJacob Fortune-Lloyd is an engaging Brian
His belief in the boys and need for the world to see them really comes acrossAside from learning about Epstein’s influence, the film does a great job of showing his struggle between public image and private self without being too ' ;sensational' which can be annoying with biopicsSome might see that as playing it a bit safe but I thought it struck a nice balanceThe film is stylish, the casting of The Beatles works well (Lennon is short though!) and the fourth wall breaking moments are funShame there wasn’t any really recognizable songs, probably hard to get, but the early Beatles songs they used fit well
